Special Fundraisers
Several times a year, the church puts on fund-raising events that support the annual operating budget. This kind of fundraising accounts for less than 5% of West Shore's income, but it's an important 5% and it's fun to raise! New ideas for special fundraisers are always welcome.
Besides the income, our major annual fundraisier is the Service Auction which offers a unique social outlet for connections among our members. In 2011, the Service Auction will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Details will be available after the first of the year in Shorelines and West Shore Weekly.
The links to your left offer a quick way to access the Service Auction brochure or to pay your Service Auction bill on-line.
Two other Fundraisers operate every Sunday morning, and allow you with some small changes in your consumption habits to contribute to the church's budget at no cost to you.
We offer Gift Cards from local merchants at face value. West Shore makes up to 18.5% profit on these cards, and over the coming year we hope sales will bring in $6000 to the church. Each Sunday we offer Gift Cards for Giant Eagle, Heinen’s, Home Depot, Starbucks, Panera, Speedway, BP, Shell, and Lube Stop. Cards for other businesses can be ordered for pick up the following week. A list of the cards we offer is available here and at the Gift Card table in the Rotunda on Sundays. Bring your checkbook to church and take home Gift Cards to pay for your weekly purchases! Karen Auer heads up a team of volunteers that act as the sales agents. Contact her through the church office if you’d like to help one Sunday a month.
We also sell Fair Trade Coffee, Chocolate, and Tea. Our vendor for these excellent quality products also give us a dividend on sales which helps pay for the coffee and tea we offer after service each week. Contributions too cover coffee and tea are also received. The Green Sanctuary Committee led by Peggy and Pat Smith manages these sales and welcome volunteers.
