Meet Our Director of Lifespan Faith Development

Layne Richard-Hammock

is our Director of Lifespan Faith Development. West Shore is Layne’s fourth congregation served in her twenty one years as a religious educator. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education, deep experience in Montessori, earned her Religious Education Credential in 2003. She’s trained and certified as a Transitional RE Leader and other certifications include: OWL for elementary and Jr./Sr. High, Spirit Play, certified Renaissance Module leader in Administration, Worship, Teacher Development and Curriculum. She’s served in a wide variety of leadership roles locally, regionally and nationally including Good Officer, Mid-West Leadership School staff, district staff in Heartland and many other roles.
Like so many young parents, Layne first came to Unitarian Universalism looking for community and a spiritual home for her young children. In less than a year of discovering the existence of this faith, she found she had a vocation as a liberal religious education leader and that discovery transformed the course of her life. Native Cincinnatians, she and her husband Jay of 36 years, have three adult children. She is excited to work with this congregation and its leaders in discerning next steps for building on an already strong and vital RE Program.
