UU Youth Programs for Fall/Winter 2009


SUNDAY ACTIVITIES

First Service - Youth Group Meeting Time

9:30 to 10:40 a.m.

During the 9:30 Sunday service, youth meet weekly, following the On the Path curriculum. Advisors facilitate group discussion, exploration and learning in a small group setting. In addition to the curriculum, youth wll choose and develop service projects based on their interests and on community needs.

Another aspect of youth programming at West Shore includes week-long heritage and service trips tentatively scheduled from Spring and Summer 2010.

West Shore youth also contribute to church life through a variety of activities such as:

JUNIOR CHURCH ACTIVITIES

March 14 ,          Tie-Dye Picnic Palooza -- For teens 9th grade and up.

12:30 p.m.          Bring a dish for an indoor picnic lunch (sign up in Jr. Church

                           classroom starting Feb. 21) and afterwards creat a tie dye

                           shirt, listen to music and hang out. Participants do not have

                           to be church members so bring friends for a fun afternoon.

March 26-27       Ohio-Meadville District Assembly -- A group of youth

                           and adult advisors are going to the District Assembly. Sign

                           up to attend and/or carpool with Phil Florian, 440-333-2255,

                           ext. 105 or pflorian@wsuuc.org

YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR, PHIL FLORIAN

Phil Florian has been a West Shore member for five years and Junior Church advisor for 1-1/2 years, Phil brings an enthusiastic commitment to youth and a solid understanding of group dynamics, problem solving and team building. Phil links our youth, their parents and Sunday School teachers to church, comm-unity, interfaith, district and continental activities. In addition to his work with our Sunday School youth, Phil will be laying the groundwork for an off-Sunday morning UU youth group that encourages fun, fellowship and service.

OHIO-MEADVILLE YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Apr. 16-17:     Spring Con YAC Meeting at East Shore Church. Fee $10.

                       Registration deadline is April 9

May 14-16:     SPRING CON! First Church of Columbus. Open to 7th grade to

                       19 years, but 7th/8th grade must have already attended a YAC,

                       Con or SI. Fee $15. Registration deadline is May 3.
