Worship Associates are lay leaders who have been accepted into our Worship Associates program. Volunteers commit to a year of working with the ministry team and our Director of Lifespan Faith Development, to assist in the creation of inspiring and transcendent worship. The Worship Associates Program is by application only, and participants may apply for a second year term.

Worship Associates are expected to volunteer in several areas of church life; whether assisting the minister with the theme of the sermon to writing and delivering a sermon him/herself. Worship Associates learn how to use our sound & lighting system, and are often asked to help produce power-point and/or other multimedia presentations. Additionally, they may be requested to assist with services other than Sunday morning; such as additional seasonal services.

If you are interested in participating in this program, application forms are available in the church office by the first of November or you may dowload one here. Terms begin in January of each year and are renewable for one year.  Please speak to one of the ministers and/or a current worship associate to find out more about this important ministry.

Worship ThemesWorship Themes 2010-2011

In 2005, we began to experiment with having monthly themes to guide our worship planning.  These themes were chosen by the ministers and the worship associates team, and they represent some of the great religious & spiritual themes of concern to religious liberals.  Some of these theme reflect our Unitarian Universalist principles; others represent classical Western religious themes such as sin, salvation or grace. Some are drawn from the major tenets of world religions; others from the landscape of our experience.  We cycle through these themes every three years.  For the year 2010-2011 (Year C) we will be exploring the following themes:

Church Year 2010-2011

September 2010     Wholeness/Dignity & Worth
October 2010          Confession
November 2010       Peace
December 2010       Incarnation
January 2011          Resistance
February 2011        Salvation
March 2011            Brokenness
April 2011              Accountability
May 2011               Freedom
